Although not high, it is the most notable landmark in the area, comprising an elevated ridge with a selection of rocky, granite tors. The highest point is Oxen Craig, situated in the centre of the ridgeline. Mither Tap: 518m (1699ft) is the most easterly and shapely peak with a granite summit. It an Iron Age fort built into it. The hill is usually ascended via the Forestry Commission car park on the east side. From there, well signed and good paths lead through a pleasant forest and up on to the hill’s steep flanks.
