Tralee Beach

This attractive quiet beach, with shingle at one end and sand dunes at the other, is a short walk by a signposted footpath from Benderloch, where there is a car park, café and shops. There is another car park at the west end of the beach off the South Shian road.The wreck of the Breda, one of the most dived on wreck sites, near Oban is just off shore.She was damaged on December 23rd 1940 by a German Heinkel bomber flying from Stavanger in Norway and had to be beached in Ardmucknish Bay. Part of a convoy sailing to India, she carried aeroplanes, cement, rupees, and 10 horses. Hardly any of the cargo was salvaged though the horses were released and swam ashore.
