Castle Sween (HS)

Castle Sween (HS)
One of the oldest castles in Scotland, built by Suibhne, ancestor of the MacSweens in the 12th century.
One of Scotland's oldest castles, it was built at the end of the 12th century – a time when Argyll and the Isles still belonged to Norway. The massive curtain wall still stands as does much of the later MacMillan’s Tower. The castle is almost surrounded by a holiday park. To reach the castle you need to leave your car by the road and walk down through the park.
