Nether Largie Mid Cairn

This Bronze Age cairn was the burial place, 4000 years ago, of at least two important people. Excavations in 1929 uncovered two stone graves or ‘cists’. Only one can be seen today.The cairn forms part of an extraordinary 2km long ‘linear cemetery’ of five cairns that stretch south from Kilmartin. They are best appreciated together from the footpath that runs between Kilmartin and Nether Largie.
