Ri Cruin Cairn

Built about 4000 years ago this is the southernmost cairn of the extraordinary linear cemetery that stretches south from Kilmartin.

This Bronze Age cairn was built around 4000 years ago and had three burial cists. The side of one the cists has the outline of a bronze axe carved into it. Agricultural improvements in the 1700s and 1800s severely damaged the cairn and much of what you see has been reconstructed..Ri Cruin is the southernmost cairn of the extraordinary 2km long ‘linear cemetery’ that stretches north to Kilmartin. It is signposted off the minor road just to the west of the Nether Largie Standing Stones car park.
