Tobar Odhran

Tobar Odhran – St Oran’s well in Colonsay House Gardens is probably close to the site of the 12th century Kiloran Abbey of which no trace survives. Beside the well is a beautiful 8th century cross of a most unusual design. This cross stood for almost a thousand years at the long disappeared chapel at Riasg Buidhe, just to the north of Scalasaig. For safekeeping it was removed from there to the gardens in the late 19th century.
