The third highest Munro is a magnificent bulky mountain with many beautiful hidden corries.

This enormous Cairngorm Mountain has a plateaued summit, which is also the source of the river Dee, and many deep bowl like corries that have been scoured by glaciers in the past. The ones to the North of the summit can be clearly seen from Aviemore, and the trio of to the southeast overlook the remote part of the Lairig Ghru. One of these: Garbh Coire Mor lays claim to holding the longest lying snow-beds in Scotland. The summer snows have only fully disappeared five times in the last hundred years.
