Ballantrae
Two large beaches, one of shingle and one of sand.
These two attractive beaches lie on either side of the harbour. The southern beach is mostly of shingle with some sand at low tide. Between May and August part of this beach is an important breeding site for little terns. On the other side of the harbour a long sandy beach stretches north for almost two miles. Ballantrae, a once important smuggling centre, is on A7.Parking is beside the shore at Forelands where there are public toilets
