Caisteal Abhail 859m (2818ft)
A lovely mountain with curved, rocky ridges and a plentiful amount of granite tors on its summit plateau.
This is the second highest and most northerly of Arran’s fine peaks. It has fine ridges that at times require some scrambling and the summit has many rocky tors and gives a superb viewpoint. The best access is the NE ridge from Glen Sannox. It is known that an Avro Anson crashed into the mountain in 1942, but no wreckage has been found or recorded.
