A superb beach backed by massive sand dunes it forms part of the walk out to Faraid Head and its seabird colonies.
A superb beach backed by massive sand dunes it forms part of the walk out to Faraid Head and its seabird colonies. The south corner of the beach near the car park and watermill is an historic place. On one side of the burn is Balnakeil House, built in 1744, while on the other is the ruined church of Balnakeil, built in 1619 on the site of a far older church. From here you can walk out along the coast past the golf course – an excellent place to find the rare Scots Primrose. The nearby Balnakeil Craft Village is well worth a stop with its Cocoa Mountain Café and Chocolaterie a must.Surf spot
