This beautiful gently sloping beach, with rock pools at either end, runs east from the harbour at Balintore.
This beautiful gently sloping beach, with rock pools at either end, runs east from the harbour at Balintore. Shandwick or Sand-vik in Norse means ‘sand bay’. On the hill behind is the famous Shadwick Cross, an impressive cross slab standing some 2.7 metres high and dating from around 780AD. To the west of the beach there is a good coastal walk to the Hill of Nigg with outstanding views over to Cromarty and the Black Isle.Public Toilet. Seaside Award.
