Torrisdale Bay

An outstanding beach with superb dunes, it is reached by a rewarding walk from Invernaver.

Easier to see than it is to get to, this beautiful beach with its wind sculpted dunes is just to the west of Bettyhill. The best way in is to park on the east side the bridge over the River Naver – famous for its salmon fishing. From here cross the bridge and turn right at the sign for Invernaver, there is a gate here and a sign to the beach. The hillside is a good place for unusual wild flowers, in late May – early June you’ll see massive dark green clumps of mountains avens with its large white flowers. Take a detour up the gully with its burn to discover the rare and spectacular purple oxytropis. The dry scree opposite is carpeted with the purple fairy foxglove. The beach can also be reached from Torrisdale to the west.
