Arkle 787m (2582ft)
A very distinguishable grey-white quartzite peak of North West Sutherland.
This mystical peak, with steep flanks and a flat summit all beautifully coated in grey-white quartzite, is generally regarded as Foinaven’s smaller sister. The peak is usually approached via Loch Stack or a more arduous route can be taken incorporating Foinaven. The legendary Irish racehorse foaled in 1957 was named after this prestigious peak.
