Dhoon Bay

This small sheltered sandy bay, also known as Nun Mill Bay, lies 3 miles south west of Kirkcudbright on the B727. The remains of the wreck of the Monreith of Wigtown can be seen out on the sand. A two masted schooner with a cargo of stone kerbs she was driven ashore here on November 12th 1900. Her crew managed to get off safely. Grassy car park and picnic area with public toilets.
