Where some of Scotland's earliest Christians worshipped about 1,500 years ago.
Where some of Scotland's earliest Christians worshipped about 1,500 years ago. According to legend, St Ninian founded the priory at Whithorn in the early 400s. The Latinus Stone, now displayed here, was raised soon after and remains Scotland's oldest Christian monument. There is also an outstanding collection of intricately-carved stone crosses. Whithorn is still a place of pilgrimage.
