The ‘father of economics’, Adam Smith is best known for his great work ’The Wealth of Nations’ published in 1776. He had previously made a name for himself as Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Glasgow. He died in Edinburgh in 1790 and is buried in the Canongate Churchyard.
