This prominent building on Calton Hill is Scotland’s memorial to those who died fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.

This prominent building on Calton Hill is Scotland’s memorial to those who died fighting in the Napoleonic Wars with France between 1801 and 1815. It was planned to be a replica of the Parthenon in Athens but funds ran out in 1829 and it was never completed. As a result it is often nicknamed ‘Edinburgh’s Disgrace’ or ‘Edinburgh’s Folly’
