This memorial to Prince Albert, the much respected husband, of Queen Victoria was erected in 1876.

This memorial to Prince Albert, the much respected husband, of Queen Victoria was erected in 1876. He died of typhoid when just 42 and was mourned by Queen Victoria for the rest of her life. The Queen herself unveiled the statue. She was delighted with the memorial and after the ceremony knighted the sculptor, John Steell.
