Sgurr of Eigg 393m (1289ft)
This unique rocky inselberg (isolated rock) is perhaps the most unusual hill in Scotland.
The highest point of the island of Eigg is an inselberg rock made of pitchstone, a volcanic lava that is more durable than the surrounding basalt. An ascent may require some scrambling to gain the far ridge. However the cliff beneath the summit is almost 90m (300ft) and is home to one of the most difficult rock climbs in Scotland called 'the nose'.
