Sgurr Dearg

Sgurr Dearg
The second highest peak on the Cuillin ridge has an eccentric spine of rock sticking out of the summit higher than the mountain itself.
This is the most feared of all the Scottish peaks because it requires some (albeit easy) rock climbing to reach the summit. The climb is incredibly exposed and an abseil is needed to once again reach ‘terra-firma’. The main mountain itself is essentially a dome of scree and can be easily ascended from Glen Brittle in the west.
