The Stirling Smith provides a fascinating history of Stirling, the surrounding villages and its people.
The Stirling Smith was founded in 1874 from the bequest of artist and art collector Thomas Stuart Smith, and has a fine collection of Scottish painting, as well as a collection of artefacts illustrating the story of Stirling. These include the world's oldest football and curling stone, the Stirling Jug of 1457, and artefacts illustrating the story of Wallace and Bruce.
