The Abbotsford Trust

The building of Abbotsford took six years, and was completed in 1824.The house contains an impressive collection of historic relics, weapons and armour, (also Rob Roy's Gun and Montrose's Sword), and a library containing over 9,000 rare volumes. Visit Sir Walter Scott's Study, Library, Drawing Room, Entrance Hall, Armouries and the Dining Room where he died on 21st September 1832. The gardens, laid over by Sir Walter Scott in the 1820s, walled garden with a handsome orangery, roses, fruit trees and herbaceous borders. Beautiful grounds and woodland walks and children's play trails. A state of the art Visitor Centre houses a FREE exhibition, quality cafe and gift shop and comfortable facilities. Scotland's must see attraction.
